WE ARE BACK! It's January which means only one thing - NEW YEAR'S NICKTOONS! This is our third year doing New Year's NickToons and we're getting into some interesting territory. Kicking off 2017 is Oh Yeah! Cartoons which was a variety show that acted as a spring board for cartoons like the Fairly OddParents, Chalk Zone, and My Life as a Teenage Robot. All good things and was the begin of Frederator Studio that has launched so many other great cartoons (Bee and PuppyCat, Bravest Warriors, and Adventure Time).
Will Dave start his own variety show? Will Sean animate a version of Dave and his cat and pitch it to Frederator? (answers Yes and Absolutely) All of this and more on this week's episode of the Saturday Mourning Cartoons podcast.

Rankin Bass holiday specials have become a staple of December for us but what happens when the cartoon completely sucks? This week we watched The Little Drummer Boy with Melanie Harker and really dig deep on the idea of acceptance and gift giving. After having tragedy strike his family, Aaron, the little drummer boy, decides that he only wants to be friends with the animals and hates all human. But LDB has good reason as he's kidnapped immediately into the deserts worst traveling performance group. When his camel is sold to the Magi, what's LDB to do? We'll find out on this week's episode of SMC.

What happens when you give three kids a van, a bucket of paint, and a couple random animals? Well, of course they begin to follow around California EMS/Firefighters as a "jitney" emergency vehicle. It all makes sense, right? We're getting into the animated version of the live action 70's drama Emergency which is called Emergency +4 because there are, maybe, four children that following around Squad 51. This show makes zero sense to us, but what does make sense is that we have friend of the show Alex Capece joining us because he's a real Firefighter in the District of Columbia. Hit the "box alarm" because we're all about to learn something on this episode.

Welcome to 600 years in the future and oh, dinosaurs are also alive! We have some weird factions of people like "old blood mechanics," dinosaurs called "slithers," and the machinato vitae OR machine of life. It's a wild world full of betrayal, forrest ambushes, and cities on the sea. The world building on this show is insane!

You send in the military to assess the situation OR you send in a group of about nine randomly assigned commandos with jetpack backpacks and laser rope to navigate this strange new land? Hint: pick the latter because we've watched Sky Commanders this week on SMC. Just think Spiral Zone meets GI Joe meets Grappling hooks. For one thing, Chuck Norris doesn't play by your rules regarding spelling because Commandos is now spelled with a "K." You heard right! Chuck Norris has roundhouse kicked the alphabet and he's now set his sights on the evil organization VULTURE, led by the nefarious, yet educated, Dr. Claw.
